With the "House of One", Jews, Christians and Muslims in Berlin have set out to plan, build and fill with life a completely new, future-oriented sacred building. This extraordinary project started in 2010.

After the architectural competition in 2012, KuehnMalvezzi was commissioned with the planning. The foundation stone will be laid in spring 2020. After ten years of development, this local project has become an international movement, with a worldwide reception as a built symbol of peace for religions, with subsidiary projects in Africa and Europe.

Globalisation of Religions

How is it to be classified if - right in the heart of secular Berlin - the religions are made public in a prominent way with this project and with great social attention? And what do the cooperations with the partner projects worldwide mean for a "globalization of religions" in the good sense, which already 50 years ago Karl Rahner in the wake of the 11th Vatican Council saw a new world church coming into being?

A broad-based fundraising and participation campaign makes the realization possible. But the public sector is also interested in this interreligious idea. The Federal Government and the State of Berlin support the "House of One" financially.
