Multi-religious celebrations: intermingling or enrichment?
The "Haus der Religionen" (House of Religions) in Bern is inviting to the conference of interfaith projects and buildings in Bern. In scope of this event, which was first introduced by the House of One back in 2020, representants of various interfaith projects will come together to connect and work on a better exchange and network amongst each other.
The programm of the meeting which will take place from may 19 to may 20, will focus on the often controversial question of joint interfaith celebrations. In this context, Pastor Gregor Hohberg and Imam Osman Örs will talk about the multi-religious celebrations that have been practiced for many years in the House of One and the cautious approach to the topic. Other multi-faith houses will also share their experiences.
The conference will start thursday, may 19 at 11 am, the closing event will be on friday, may 20 at 4pm. Everybody interested is invited to sign up.
The number of projects that bring together various different religions in one shared building is growing worldwide. The desire of the people behind these projects to better connect and exchange with each other has grown accordingly. Thus the idea arose in the House of One to create a "Conference of Multi-Religious Houses". The founding ceremony was in Berlin in the fall of 2020, albeit only digitally due to corona. The conference at the House of Religions in Bern is the second event of this network of multi-faith institutions.
We are convinced, that every interfaith project strengthens the dialogue and peaceful coexistence within our society. With that in mind, it is even more touching and motivating to see a growing number of such projects with the desire to support and inspire others to think further and develope new ideas. Because the core of a peaceful togetherness of people of different religious and cultural backgrounds will always be to keep in touch, share and discuss the topics important to every indiviual.
