The great Jewish scholar and rabbi Leo Baeck once said: "People and nations and confessions will remain divorced, will live on in their specificity, but they will know that they belong together, are part of humanity, should live together on this earth, seeing and understanding each other, and, if need be, helping each other. These phrases are part of the House of One's charter. They read like a summary of what makes the House of One what it is.

"...seeing one another and understanding one another and, in need, helping one another." We want to help. In the Central African Republic, one of the poorest countries in the world, and the home of one of our partner organisations, the "Plateforme des Confessions Religieuses de Centrafrique" (PCRC), there is need.

On the occasion of the Islamic high feast "Eid al-Adha" - also called Qurban or Festival of the Sacrifice - which this year takes place from July 30th to August 2nd, the House of One therefore calls for donations for Central Africa.

"It is not proper for a believer to walk around on a full stomach while his neighbour suffers from hunger" - this is how the Islamic tradition passes on these words of the Prophet Muhammad calling for solidarity.

Since 2016, the House of One Foundation has been closely linked to the Interfaith Platform in the central african capital Bangui. In an admirably courageous way, Protestants, Catholics and Muslims work together to put an end to the fighting in their country.

Life in the Central African Republic has been dominated by political crises and violence for decades. For some years now, the parties to the conflict have been trying to incite Muslims and Christians, who live peacefully together, against each other. The clergymen of the Platform PCRC, Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga and Imam Kobine Layam, have been awarded the Aachen Peace Prize 2015 for their tireless commitment across religious boundaries. The experiences of daily peace work in a warzone has been written down by Marie-Therèse Boubandé, head of the women's section of the PCRC, in a moving text for the German magazine "Kulturaustausch".

The House of One wants to help. On the occasion of the Muslim Qurban Festival, Jews, Christians and Muslims in Germany joined forces with people of other religions and world views to support needy people in the Central African Republic. According to UN figures, every second of the country's 4.6 million inhabitants is dependent on humanitarian aid. One third of the population does not even have enough food.

In 2019, the efforts of the House of One were recognised by the Mayor of the city of Bangui in a letter of thanks as a gesture of friendship, sympathy and solidarity. There the Mayor thanked the House of One for the 672 Qurban donations organised by the Duha Foundation, in which the House of One participated with 385 gifts and 50 vegetarian aid packages. In collaboration with the city administration, the Central African ministries and other cooperation partners, the House of One was able to help 20 mosques, 13 churches and the hospital of Bangui with 300 patients. According to the letter, the donations reached around 29,000 people in need.

We want to continue helping these people! In cooperation with the aid organisation "Time to Help" in Germany and together with the "Duha Association" in Bangui, which has been cooperating with the Interreligious Platform in Bangui for a long time, we are again collecting donations this year as we did the years before. On the occasion of the Qurban Festival, we will distribute food and festive gifts to people in need, irrespective of their religion, under the auspices of the platform.

THE CAMPAIGN WILL RUN UNTIL 27 JULY - UNTIL THEN YOU CAN TAKE PART WITH A DONATION!

Share food on Eid: A Qurbani is a donation for the needy, to which Muslims are called upon every year on the occasion of the Festival of the Sacrifice. With such a gift or a donation you can take responsibility and help not only as a Muslim, but also as a member of any other religion or as a person without religious affiliation.

With your donations you help people in Central Africa and at the same time strengthen the idea of inter-religious understanding in our "one world house".

A delegation of the House of One will hand over the relief supplies with local partners of the Interreligious Platform on site in the Central African Republic. The relief action is an initiative of House of One, Duha Association, Time to Help e.V. and the Interreligious Peace Platform PCRC.

     1. A Qurbani is 120 €

     2. A donation for a vegetarian aid package is 50 €
