Interfaith Learning with Children

A workshop for educators from daycare centers, parents, and interested individuals. Prejudices arise unconsciously, sometimes from a very young age. The stereotypical portrayal of Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and other people in some children's books contributes to this.

Islamic theologian Dr. Mohammed Abdelrahem and Christian theologian Dr. Domenik Ackermann will explore, together with the workshop participants, some children's books. Which stories promote interfaith learning, and which ones do the opposite? How can parents at home or educators in daycare centers use children's books in a way that allows children to shift perspectives while still enjoying good stories?
