We are in the midst of Ramadan. Therefore, the House of One, in collaboration with the Wilhelmstadt Schools in Spandau, cordially invites you to join us in breaking the Muslim fast. Together, we will pray after the Lesezeichen lecture and enjoy a meal afterwards.
Important! The number of participants is limited. Please register by emailing ramadan@house-of-one.org.
Religious fasting is not an end in itself. It serves a more conscious life and mental preparation for holidays. In Judaism, there are several fasting days throughout the religious year: before Purim, before Passover, on Yom Kippur, and Tisha B'Av. The Christian fasting period begins with Ash Wednesday: believers refrain from indulgences or bad habits for 40 days until Easter. In Islam, fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the central religious observances. During the day, food and drink are refrained from, among other things. The heart is also meant to fast by freeing itself from harmful traits. Fasting is not only for spiritual purification but also promotes social responsibility and a God-conscious life.
Due to Ramadan, all guests are invited to the Iftar, the communal breaking of the fast.

Welcome to "Lesezeichen" – our monthly interfaith reading series at the House of One! Our clergy read verses from the Torah, Bible, and Quran, delve into central themes of our religions, and discuss what they mean for our lives today. The Bookmarks provide deep insights into the sacred texts, offering new perspectives on one's own faith practice and that of other religions. Let yourself be inspired and enriched by cross-traditional impulses.
