Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili and Imam Ali Aliev from Georgia nominated as the first international project ambassador of the House of One

On Thursday, November 24th 2016, Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili and Imam Ali Aliev from Georgia (in absence) were nominated as ambassadors by representatives of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of House of One - Bet- und Lehrhaus Berlin. This event took place in context of the dialogue evening "Dialogue of Religions - Does it work?".

„Thank you for the kind invitation to be ambassador of the House of One. I take this enormous honor and I would like to be as much help as I can. The House of One is a project of immense importance and a beacon of hope for the future” Bishop Malkhaz said on the occasion of the appointment.

"The House of One gains in charisma and persuasiveness through people who have the idea of ​​a peaceful communion of religions into the world," said Roland Stolte (Director of the House of One Foundation's Managment), explaining the tasks of the project ambassadors.

Project ambassadors present and represent the House of One in their respective environment. They act in the spirit of the House of One far beyond the borders of Berlin.

In this way, 10 people already work in the German-speaking area for the House of One. Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili and Imam Ali Aliev were appointed as the first international project ambassadors.

Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili from Georgia is regarded as a bridge builder between cultures and religions in the Caucasus and enjoys great respect both among Muslims and Christians. As a representative for successful dialogue in a conflict-rich region, he is also an internationally sought-after partner. The Archbishop of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia was awarded the "Shahbaz Bhatti Peace Prize" by Federal Minister of Health Hermann Gröhe in early 2015 for his manifold work for peace and the promotion of mutual respect among the different religions.

Imam Ali Aliev has been the representative of the All Caucasus Department of Muslims in Georgia for 20 years, representing both Shia and Sunni communities in Georgia and headed by the Sheikh of the Caucasus. The All Caucasus Department of Muslims in Georgia is the oldest Islamic organization in the region and has existed for over 200 years.
