Guds Hus – our partner project in Sweden

In Sweden's capital Stockholm, another multi-religious house is in the making. The project in the Fisksätra district is called Guds Hus and has existed for 10 years. The House of One has been in a lively exchange with the Swedish project for several years.

The Lutheran parish in Fisksätra has provided the local mosque community with a plot of land next to the church for the construction of a mosque. This sacred building is to be connected with the church. Joint events will take place in the rooms between the two sacral buildings, namely those that promote peaceful coexistence in the district from a social, spiritual and educational perspective.

10th Anniversary of the Guds Hus

The Guds Hus celebrated the 10th anniversary of this project in a festive week at the beginning of February. The House of One as the most important international and long-standing partner of the Guds Hus was of course part of the celebration. Father Gregor Hohberg spoke in the mosque about the experiences of the House of One and its international cooperations. In addition, he was invited to speak for the House of One during the central ceremony, alongside Archbishop Antje Jakelen (Swedish (Lutheran) Church), Rabbi Ute Steyer (Jewish Community of Stockholm), Cardinal Anders Arborelius (Catholic Church), Mohammad Muslim Eneborg (Imam Aysha Mosque) and preached on Sunday, Mass of Lights (February 2, 2019) at Stockholm Cathedral on the fragility of faith and its importance for interreligious dialogue.

Other visits to interreligious projects, the synagogue in Stockholm and numerous expert discussions took place. One fruit of these discussions, in particular with Carl Dahlbäck, the Spiritus Rector of Guds Hus, was the idea of founding an international conference of multi-religious houses together with the Swedes and other partners. In this way, the exchange and mutual support among each other will be promoted.
