What can be done against antisemitism? What can be done against hostility toward Muslims? Filmmaker Susanne Bohlmann posed these questions to the clergy of the House of One—Rabbi Andreas Nachama, Imam Kadir Sanci, and Pastor Gregor Hohberg—and accompanied them in their work. The result can be seen in the ZDF documentary "Religion – Konflikt oder Frieden?, which is (in German) available in the broadcaster’s media library until December 2029.
The film not only documents the creation of the House of One but also shows how the clergy and their team foster dialogue between Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities, as well as with the secular majority. All three men developed an interest in interfaith dialogue at an early age.
They share the same perspective: Encounter is the key to understanding. Rabbi Nachama recalls a conversation with another clergyman: "Something quite remarkable happened. Suddenly, two truths were present in the room—and the ceiling did not collapse."
In addition to the House of One, the documentary features representatives of the Kreuzberg Initiative Against Antisemitism, the Intercultural Center Genezareth, as well as Israeli Oz Ben David and Palestinian Jalil Debit from the Berlin-based restaurant Kanaan, and Seyran Ateş.
