Imam Sanci on Iran protests: fundamental values of Islam are ridden roughshod over

The fundamental values of Islam are ridden roughshod over in the name of Islam, criticizes Imam Kadir Sanci of the House of One the events in Iran.

The Muslim cleric took part in the rally at the Brandenburg Gate, called by the human rights organization HAWAR.help (September 28) at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

Commenting on the events following the death of Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian woman who died after being detained by Iranian morality police, Imam Sanci said:

"A person's body can be imprisoned, can be restricted by laws. But the human heart cannot. In Iran, a young woman stood up against the political instrumentalization of religion. Mahsa Amini not only wanted a free heart, she also wanted to free her body from constraint. She paid for it with her life.

Freedom is a human right. Freedom of self-determination is God-ordained and God-given. Without freedom there can be no peace. Mahsa Amini stood up for this freedom. And this is what I also stand up for. Tragically, we are witnessing yet another instance of people trampling on the fundamental values of Islam in the name of Islam. This is paradoxical. No tyrant, no government will ever achieve anything with coercion. We need to show solidarity so they can't continue to do so."
