Ramdan in Coronavirus times

Ramadan, Islam, Muslime, Koran, Religion

On this Thursday the month of fasting Ramadan begins at sunset. But after the Jews were already not allowed to go to the synagogue at Passover, and the Christians had to do without the services around the most important Christian festival, Easter, now the Muslims also celebrate their month of fasting Ramadan at home - without a congregation, without the breaking of the fast every evening in large community. The coronavirus pandemic is changing the lives of religious people and forcing them to find new ways to practice their faith.

Ramadan Mubarak

Imam Osman Örs talks in this video about praying and fasting in one's own four walls. This month, which is also the holy month of the Quran, is not only a spiritual but also a social highlight in the religious calendar of Islam. This year, Muslims will have to do without these encounters. That is sad. But in this way the aspect of renunciation, purification and reflection comes to the fore.

We wish all Muslims a blessed Ramadan!
